DuckDuckGo Rolls Out Sleek, Smart New Interface

DuckDuckGo Rolls Out Sleek, Smart InterfaceUnknown to the general public, my relationship with Google has been on the rocks for awhile now. So, I decided to check out DuckDuckGo’s newly rolled out interface to see if the privacy-oriented search engine lived up to the hype.

DuckDuckGo’s Privacy Policy

In a society that values anonymity, Google is increasingly becoming the brunt of criticism regarding the search engine’s shoddy privacy policies. Although DuckDuckGo is up and coming, the service’s dedication to discretion has contributed to major influx of users in the last year. Following the Edward Snowden privacy invasion scandal, DuckDuckGo’s inbound traffic increased by nearly 100 million visitors.

DuckDuckGo's New Features

Recently, DuckDuckGo revamped its design strategy and created a sleeker, smarter interface that allows you to search for related pictures and videos without being redirected to another search page. You can also search using DuckDuckGo’s “places” function to find reviews as well as a map of restaurants in a specific location (i.e. Argentinian food near The DSM Group in Franklin Lakes, NJ) or if you’re looking for a home cooked meal from mom, try the “recipe” search .

I was giddy about being able to search for musical artists, click “audio,” and then listen to tracks from SoundCloud without the inconvenience of being shuffled to an external web page. What a concept. I am not certain I am ready to break ties with Google just yet. But at this rate, this fiery, little search engine is looking as if it's going to give the top dog a run for its money.
